Week of January 3rd
We will not have school on Monday, January 2nd. Welcome back to Tiny Tots on Wednesday, January 4th.
On Wednesday, we will finish up our nativity unit as we celebrate the epiphany (January 6th). We will again hear how the three wise men brought gifts to the infant king. We will make our own epiphany crowns and go on our own search for baby Jesus.
We will review classroom rules so nothing can be lost from Christmas vacation. We might have a few anxieties but all will be well when we get back into the swing of things.

Week of January 10th
We will begin learning about shapes this week. We will create some awesome snowmen for our hallway as we learn about the circle. We will learn a circle song and search our room for circles.
I will also beginning my January assessments this week. I will work with each child individually as we play simple games to see how each child is developing. We will be doing physical activities as well as fine motor ones such as coloring and cutting. We will see how we are counting, learning our colors, and verbalizing information. These assessments are very informal and I will be doing them again in May. They are simply a way to see the growth in your child. Both assessments will be sent home in May but if you would like to see a copy earlier, just let me know.

Week of January 16th
There is no school on Monday, January 16th due to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
On Wednesday, we will continue working on learning circles as we have centers where we cut circles for a snowman, make circle pictures with circle stickers and find circles in our sand box.
Then I will continue with my individual assessments. Again these are just simple games I play with each child to see what they understand and how they have grown.

Week of January 23rd
There is no school on Monday, January 23rd due to teacher inservice.
On Wednesday, we will have more centers where we will work on scissor skills, patterns and fine motor skills. These centers are a great preparation for Pre-K next year where activities are done more on an individual level.
I will finish up my individual assessments this week. I will be assessing their motor skills and physical abiliites as we bounce and catch balls, jump and skip, and see how much we have grown with weights and heights.

Yea! We have a full week in Tiny Tots again. We will be learning about the square shape this week. We will be making square puppets and glitter squares. We will learn our new square song and we will search our room for squares and also cirlces to review that shape.
On Wednesday, we will decorate a cake for our classroom to donate to the school's Spaghetti Dinner and Cake Auction to support the school's Booster Club. This is a fun way for our little ones to help out our middle school kids in athletics. The dinner is also a fun time for families. Hope to see you there.
